eAthena files FAQ's
Here are a few of the commonly asked questions about this service.Q. Is this service free? do we need to pay to have more bandwidth?
This service is 100% free to all members/moderators/developers/users who need to keep something. Files are never removed for inactivity and there is no 'premium memberships', all members/users receive the same bandwidth limits.
Q. What type of files are allowed to be uploaded?
We currently allow any files that related to eAthena, the file types listed on the upload page are the file extensions accepted. Please keep in mind that all files are to be eAthena related and follow our ToS. Any file found in violation of either will be deleted without notice.
Q. A newer version of a file is out, how do I update it?
For now, we do not have a precedure on this, you would need to flag the file for deletion, and then when it is removed, re-upload the newer version. The moderator in charge of deleting the file will make a note to keep the ID the same with the newer version. We are currently working on a better way of doing this.
Q. I found a bug, how should I report it?
Jguy currently maintains this service and is in charge of it. Please submit a PM to him at the eAthena forums and describe what you were doing and what page it shows up at.
Q. I want to help and create a mirror for all these files, can I?
While it might seem logical, all it creates is headaches with trying to keep everything up-to-date across all mirror sites. Please do not mirror any files here, it is not needed, this service will remain for a long time.
Q. I need to upload a file larger than the current limit, how can I go about doing that?
Submit a PM to Jguy on the forums describing why and what the file is that will be over the limit, and he will make exceptions.
Q. Why not make a mirror of kRO/SAK installs?
While I've wanted to create mirrors of those for a long time, we have a link available to Ragray, maintained by Ancyker. We will not host kRO/SAK installs unless a generous donation is given to support more b/w and disk space.
Q. I would like to donate to make this service better! What's the email address to donate?
This service costs very little money for the b/w, space and time, donations are not needed here. eAthena could always use a helping hand, or send some money to the developers themselves!
Q. How do I 'flag' a file?
There is a flag icon next to all the files in the master list, as well as when you're viewing the details on a file. Simply click that button, fill out the short form describing what's wrong with the file, select a flag type, and click OK; a moderator will then check the file for what the problem was and take appropriate actions.
Q. I want to become a 'moderator'!
Moderators are chosen on a case-by-case basis and are usually picked from current active moderators on the forums.
Q. Is this service English only?
Yes, for the most part. If you are an international user, please use English to the best of your ability, Google has a very nice translator that can be used.
Q. I want to make a file private, how do I do that?
You will need to create an account to accomplish this. Once done, upload a file with that account and check the box at the upload screen 'Make Private'. Once the download link is provided, that will be the only way to get the file, it will not be available to view on the public list.
